February/March Units

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are learning about Health Related and Skill Related Components of Fitness. Students start learning about these components in 3rd grade so that by 5th grade they have a greater understanding and they are prepared heading into middle school P.E. 

The 5 Health Related Components of Fitness are...

-Cardiovascular Endurance

-Muscular Strenght

-Muscular Endurance

-Flexibility

-Body Composition

These health-related components help improve a person's overall health, whereas skill-related components help improve someone's performance in a sport or activity. 

The 6 Skill Related components are...

-Speed

-Power

-Reaction Time

-Agility

-Balance

-Coordination


Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade are having a blast during our Parachute Unit! Parachute games are great cooperative games where the entire class has to work together towards one shared goal. Parachute games touches on National Standard#4: "The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others."
